Congratulations to Joe Minici the winner of the 2013 NSW state 6-red snooker championships held at central coast leagues club this past weekend.
With a turnout of 21 players Sat was filled with some great snooker in the round robin matches.
Playing down to the top 16 players after the round robin, the top 16 and Qtrs were best of 9 frames and some very close matches decided the semi finalists for Sunday.
With the semis best of 11 and the final best of 13, the play on Sunday was tough and proved to be some great snooker to watch.
In the first semi A.Fitzgerald defeated G.Wilkinson 6-0 with solid safety and some great potting.
The 2nd semi was fought out between J.Minici and D.Gimenez and went right to the wire with Joe coming out on top 6-5.
The final was set to be a great match with both players firing however Joe started the match too strong with a 64 clearance and went to an early lead. Fighting back Adam knocked in a 65 clearance when 6-2 down to go 6-3 but Joe was too strong and won the match 7-3.
Both Adam and Joe went through the round robin matches undefeated and proved too strong for the rest of the field.
Some notable results from others were local Matt Galea making the Qtrs with Ali Ganji, Hassan Kerde and Gary Mares also playing some tuff snooker all weekend.
A great result from D.Gimenez saw him back in the finals only to be beaten in semis by Joe in a very tight match.
There were a number of significant breaks over the weekend with last years winner Hassan Kerde knocking in a 70 clearance against Glen in there Qtrs match to take the overall high break.
It was a great weekend back at central coast leagues club. With the tables reclothed and playing fantastic, the players were treated to great conditions and are looking forward to more from the coast.
